Cayce, SC (Paul Kirby) – Firefighters responded to a vehicle fire Thursday during the afternoon commute that totally destroyed a work type van. The fire was reported at approximately 5:30 p.m. at the gas station and convenience store close to the Knights Inn and the I-26 off ramp.

According to Tiffany Vargas reporting as a special correspondent for The Lexington Ledger, firefighters from the Cayce Department of Public Safety were just pulling up at approximately 5:35 p.m. When they arrived, flames had already consumed the van. It was parked close to the building and the firefighters were protecting that exposure as well as attacking the van fire.

The cause of the blaze and the actual monetary loss to the vehicle and its contents have not been released by fire department officials.
