Cayce, SC (Paul Kirby) – Firefighters and public safety officers from the Cayce Department of Public Safety fought a vehicle fire at Vine and Lucas Streets Wednesday afternoon. The driver stopped in the intersection and fled from the vehicle when the fire started. When the first Cayce fire engine arrived, they found a small SUV or sedan with flames coming from its engine compartment. The fire was just beginning to extend into the passenger compartment of the car. The Cayce crew immediately pulled a small handline and attacked the fire, quickly bringing it under control.

Due to the extent of the fire, the car was deemed a total loss. A recovery company was notified to remove the vehicle from the intersection. There were no injuries reported as a result of the fire.
