Three Fountains, SC (Paul Kirby) – Tragedy struck Thursday when a 10-year-old boy accidentally drowned. The drowning occurred in a pool at a home in the Three Fountains neighborhood, close to the airport. Firefighters, deputies, and EMTs responded and arrived quickly. It was reported that the child was out of the pool before the first firefighters arrived. CPR was immediately started.
Family members at the home told rescuers that the child was submerged for about three minutes. The EMTs, paramedics, firefighters, and deputies worked relentlessly on the scene and enroute to the hospital to revive the child, but their efforts proved to be in vain. According to a representative of Lexington County Coroner Margaret Fisher, the child was pronounced dead at the hospital. Coroner Fisher was personally working with the child’s family late Thursday afternoon. She will not release the name of the boy until all his family has been notified.
