Woman arrested after serious car wreck that injures local man

Boiling Springs, SC (Paul Kirby) – An employee of a local business was seriously injured while on his way to work Tuesday morning after a woman crossed the center line of Pond Branch Road near Calks Ferry Road, hitting his truck and trapping him inside. Deputies have arrested the woman and booked her on multiple charges as a result of the crash.

According to Captain Adam Myrick, spokesman for Lexington County Sheriff Jay Koon, Amie Glorit was operating a late model Dodge pickup when she crossed the centerline and struck an older Chevrolet truck driven by the man. The collision trapped him in the wreckage of his truck causing firefighters and EMS personnel to use rescue tools to extricate him from the twisted metal.

Myrick said that deputies from the Sheriff’s Department’s traffic unit investigated the wreck. After that investigation, they arrested Glorit and charged her with driving under the suspension third offense, reckless driving, and improper use of a vehicle license tag. That charge was a result of Glorit having the tag of another vehicle on the truck she was driving at the time of the wreck. The Dodge she was driving was rented, but its tag had been swapped with one from another vehicle.

The driver that was trapped was in serious condition Tuesday evening at Palmetto Richland’s trauma center.
