LEXINGTON, S.C. — Students at Midway Elementary in Lexington County School District One recently took action to help fellow South Carolina students.
After hearing about the devastating flooding in Dillon County due to Hurricane Matthew, fourth-graders rallied support from the MES community to lend a hand. Using their 21st century learning and citizenship skills, they created a commercial to inform MES students about the need in Dillion County.
Students then collected school supplies and other necessities to send to families in need.
MES collected supplies during the week of December 5, 2016, and donations were picked up January 19, 2017. In total, the school donated enough supplies to fill approximately 25 book bags.
