Chapin Elementary student narrates counseling resource

CHAPIN, SC – Fourth grade Chapin Elementary student Antonio Marin-Montez helped give life to a new counseling resource, Hunter and His Amazing Remote Control, by acting as the narrator for its interactive CD. Marin-Montez is the voice of Hunter on the English version of the CD’s storybook and six lessons for children. Hunter and His Amazing Remote Control is published by YouthLight Inc. in Chapin, SC and offers a unique, hands-on approach to teaching self-control to children. It is a resource for those with ADHD or impulse control issues.

“Hunter and His Amazing Remote Control is a very good tool for kids to use,” said Marin-Montez. “It's awesome because the program has games that teach kids how to be in control and feel confident about their choices. My favorite part of the project was working with the owner of YouthLight, Mr. Bob. He helped me learn that in life there are always choices."

The story and lessons on the CD assist in improving children’s impulse control and self-regulation skills. Using a remote control, children participate in activities that refocus thoughts, improve decision-making skills, celebrate successes, and more. The CD will be used by counselors to help children be successful in school and day-to-day life.

“When looking for the voice of Hunter, we found Antonio to be the perfect fit,” said YouthLight. “He spent many hours in the recording studio on multiple occasions all while battling a cold, which we thought made his voice even cuter.” YouthLight develops educational materials to help counselors, educators, mental health professionals, and parents make a difference with youth.

Chapin Elementary School was excited to hear of Marin-Montez’s contribution to the project and his hard work. Principal Lauren Prochak said, "Not only does Antonio make us proud in the classroom at Chapin Elementary School, he is extending his impact throughout the community by narrating Hunter and His Amazing Remote Control.” Guidance Counselor Meredith Hardage added, “We will most definitely be getting a signed copy!”
