Dunn’s Chapel offers FREE dinner and a movie and everyone is invited

South Congaree Church will serve up free hot dogs, screen “Do You Believe” on April 21.

South Congaree, SC (James Bowers) Community members in Lexington County who are looking for an outing this Friday evening, April 21st, can visit Dunn’s Chapel, located at 281 Chapel Road in West Columbia. The non-denominational church will serve hot dogs, beverages, and other refreshments starting at 5:30 p.m. in its gym to all comers.

At 6:30 p.m., they will screen the movie “Do You Believe," a faith based film from the producers of the popular Christian feature God’s Not Dead. That film is centered around several people faced with severe hardships that test their belief in Christianity.

The film runs for 115 minutes and boasts a cast of familiar Hollywood notables such as Lee Majors and Sean Astin, as well as former football star Brian Bosworth. However, due to the heavy nature of the picture’s subject matter, younger attendees will be able to see a more child friendly movie in another part of the church.

According to Dunn’s Chapel minister Robert Spires, the event is designed to bring the community together for fellowship. “We want everyone to come out and get to know our church and feel welcome here," Spires said.

Dunn’s Chapel has been a fixture in the South Congaree area for over a century and is currently non-denominational. Spires cites “living the Bible” as a key principle of the church’s practices and hopes for new members to join in the fellowship. The church holds several services throughout the week, including Sunday School and Worship Services. Dunn’s also runs several ministries, such as those for men, women, students, and children, the latter known as AWANA.

Community outreach is just one facet of the church’s efforts in the world. They also have frequent mission trips for members of the congregation. These exciting and rewarding trips allow participants to visit new places, meet new people, and return with a true feeling of the rewards of freely giving deeply rooted in the participant’s heart.
