Student leaders excel at Lake Murray Elementary School

LEXINGTON, S.C. — Lake Murray Elementary School students put their leadership skills into action this year, serving the local community and fellow students.

To promote and create a positive culture among fifth-graders, teachers launched the iLead program in coordination with the 7 Habits leadership model. Students were encouraged to work hard, be kind and help others in tangible ways.

As students displayed leadership behavior, they earned individual and classroom Dojo points. Those who reached Level 1 earned the opportunity to bake cookies and create cards for first responders, while students reaching Level 2 earned an iLead T-shirt and the opportunity to work alongside Related Arts teachers and assist younger students.

Several fifth-graders jumped at the chance to help younger Mariners learn coding during the computer Related Arts block.
