Pelion, SC (Paul Kirby) - The Pelion Branch Library is hosting a program on June 29, July 27, and August 24 from 1 to 5 PM called “SC Plants the Seed.” The program is being presented in partnership with Beason Farm, the South Carolina State Library, SC DSS, and SC DHEC.
The purpose of the program is to promote reading, nutritional literacy, local farmers like Beason Farms, and healthy eating habits.
Beason Farms will be on hand with local produce. For people who use SNAP benefits, if they spend at least $5.00 in SNAP benefits at Beason Farms they will receive $10.00 in SNAP coupons to use for food purchases.
The library will also have representatives from SC DHEC giving demonstrations about how to prepare healthy food with local produce and we will be hosting a children’s story time that focuses on farmers and vegetables. Children who attend the program will also receive a free book about farmers and vegetables.
