Gaston, SC (Paul Kirby) The owner of a four-wheeler ATV is asking the community for their help in locating it after it was stolen. According to the owner, it was recently taken from the Glenn Village area of the county. This is at the intersection of Glenn Road and Bachman Road just northeast of Gaston.
The ATV is a 2005 model, red Honda. The Lexington County Sheriff’s Department has collected some evidence from the scene of the crime and they are investigating the case.
Deputies would like to remind citizens that these types of crimes are very hard to solve due to the fact that the owners of ATVs, golf-carts, and utility trailers often don’t record the serial number or mark them in such a way so that they can be positively identified. Even if they are located in the hands of a thief, without positive, recorded identification, it is very hard for the owner to actually prove that the item belongs to them. All items with serial numbers should have those recorded, or some positive identifying marks should be added to your property in a permanent way, and then that marking should be recorded and photographed.
If anyone has any information regarding this stolen ATV, please notify the sheriff’s department at (803) 785-8230 or call Crime Stoppers at 1-888-CRIME-SC.
