A woman dies after a hit and run incident on Highway 378, west of Lexington

Lake Murray, SC (Paul Kirby) A woman was killed after being struck by a car that then fled the scene this morning. She was hit while walking along Hwy. 378 near the Publix and Hendrix Crossing, west of Lexington.

Lexington County Coroner Margaret Fisher said that Aubrey Rose Rucker, 21, of Lexington was walking along the roadway when she was struck by an unidentified vehicle which did not stop. Rucker was pronounced dead at the scene due to injuries sustained in the hit and run incident.

The South Carolina Highway Patrol is investigating this death.
