Saluda River Academy for the Arts principal honored with top award at ceremony

West Columbia, SC - Saluda River Academy for the Arts Principal Tonya Fryer was recognized with a top education honor Thursday during a ceremony in Columbia.

Fryer received the 2017 Arts Administrator of the Year award at the Palmetto State Arts Education’s annual Arts Integration Conference in Columbia.

Fryer has been principal for 11 years at Saluda River Academy for the Arts, a recipient of the prestigious Schools of Distinction in Arts Education from the Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts.

Several Saluda River teachers, Lexington Two administrators and family members turned out to celebrate Fryer’s achievement.

In brief remarks, Fryer thanked the organization for promoting the importance of arts education.

“This award isn’t just for me,” Fryer added, “it’s for my school.”
