Lexington, SC (Paul Kirby) Law enforcement officers have made an arrest in a hit-and-run that killed a woman on Highway 378 just west of Lexington last August. Natalie Thornton was arrested by officers last Thursday, went before a judge, and has now bonded out of the detention center.
Last August, Aubrey Rucker died on the scene of the early morning incident after she was hit by a vehicle while walking along Highway 378 near Clubside Drive. This is just west of the town of Lexington in proximity of Lake Murray Baptist Church. The driver of the vehicle who hit her fled the scene. State Troopers now say that they have credible evidence that the driver of that vehicle was Thornton.
Rucker was a waitress at a nearby restaurant, and was walking home from work at the time that she was struck and killed.
