West Columbia, SC - On Friday, November 10, 2017, President of the Chinese Language Association of Secondary-Elementary Schools (CLASS) Lucy Lee and a contingent of Chinese Educators visited East Point Academy.
The group began with an informal information session with school leaders including Mandarin Curriculum Coordinator Dr. Fiona Du and Head of School Mark Bounds. Bounds presented Lee with a gift book featuring highlights of South Carolina.
The group toured a variety of elementary and primary classrooms where they got to experience the immersion environment East Point Academy provides for students with first hand. Students eagerly displayed their Mandarin language skills for the special guests.
Lee, who has had the opportunity to visit schools across the country, said that East Point Academy was the best immersion and language-focused school she has ever seen.
East Point Academy is a Mandarin immersion public charter school in West Columbia, SC, serving nearly 500 students in preschool through eighth grade and was founded in 2011.
