New souvenir shop at Lake Murray Visitor’s Center has something to remember us by

Irmo, SC (Paul Kirby) A number of dignitaries, friends, employees, and other well-wishers were on hand today for the ribbon cutting of the Souvenir Shoppe that is inside the Capital City / Lake Murray Country’s Visitors' Center. The Shoppe, located inside the historic Lorick house at 2184 North Lake Drive close to the Lake Murray dam, features many locally sourced gifts like scented candles, art pieces, towels, totes, and much more. All of the pieces prominently feature the “Jewel of SC,” Lake Murray.

Before the ribbon was officially cut, Butch Wallace spoke on behalf of Congressman Joe Wilson who was in Washington on business. Wallace said that Miriam Atria and her staff had done so much to promote the area and the addition of the Shoppe was just the latest piece of the puzzle in their efforts to let the world know just what the region has to offer. “You truly have let people across the world know what a great place we live in, and this staff has done so much to promote Lake Murray and all of the communities around it. Now, they can take something home to remember us by!”

Representative Nathan Ballentine also spoke and referenced all that the Capital City / Lake Murray Country staff has done for the economy of the area. “Many people have no idea how much each of you have done to bring business and visitors to our area, but we (the SC Legislature) know the tremendous impact you’ve had.” He went on to thank Atria and her staff before presenting her with a resolution congratulating Atria and her staff for their accomplishments.

The Souvenir Shoppe is open 7 days per week as is the visitor’s center and museum. You can find out more about it and all the wonderful things that are available to see, do, and enjoy in this area at www.lakemurraycountry.com.
