Annual event featured children’s choir, brings Chapin together
Chapin, SC (James Bowers)-The town of Chapin carried on a holiday tradition Sunday, as it held its annual Christmas Tree Lighting at the town hall on Columbia Avenue.
The event began with a reception inside the building, where members of the Chapin United Methodist Children’s Choir entertained attendees with some holiday favorites. Then, Mayor Skip Wilson entertained the little ones with a reading of the popular story “Twas the Night Before Christmas." The man of the hour was Santa Claus, who surprised the delighted children with candy canes.
After the indoor portion of things wrapped up, it was on to the front of the town hall complex, where the lighting Chapin’s town Christmas tree was done. Another edition of this special event was in the books. “It’s such a wonderful thing that we (residents of Chapin) can come together and enjoy the spirit of Christmas," Mayor Wilson said. “This is what the Christmas season is all about." The Tree Lighting is one of several community events held in Chapin throughout the year, under-girding the spirit of fellowship throughout the town.
