50+ vendors present for annual event at Park Road complex
Lexington, SC (James Bowers) - The Lexington Leisure Center on Park Road put on its annual Christmas Sampler craft show Saturday, giving local merchants a chance to showcase an array of products ranging from paintings to sports merchandise. Over 50 vendors were present at the show, giving attendees a wide selection of cool gift ideas.
According to LLC Assistant Director John Alexander, the Christmas Sampler has been held at the center for well over two decades. It is one of several major events put on by the Lexington County Recreation and Aging Commission which operates the Leisure Center. An identical show was also held at LCRAC’s Tri-County Leisure Center at the same time as the Lexington version.
Other events on the LCRAC calendar include the Flashlight Easter Egg Hunt at the Gibson Road Soccer Complex, the revolving-site Movies in the Park series and charitable endeavors such as Christmas in Lexington County, a program to repair and renovate the homes of elderly people in the community.
The Recreation and Aging Commission operates numerous facilities, providing activities and events for residents of all ages such as recreational sports, exercise programs, and community outreach projects. The LCRAC also oversaw the 2017 Big South Baseball Tournament, which brought NCAA Division I baseball to the Lexington County Baseball Stadium on Ball Park Road.
