Swansea, SC (Paul Kirby) – A mobile home was destroyed by fire Wednesday morning on Bub Wise Road off Jim Rucker Road not far from the county’s Sandy Run fire station. The fire, dispatched sometime around 7:30 a.m., was more than half involved in flames when the first fire service units arrived.
Trucks and personnel were dispatched from Sandy Run, Gaston, Swansea, Mack Edisto, Sharpes Hill, Pelion, South Congaree, and other fire stations and tanker trucks were used to supply the water to fight the fire. Other resources were moved from as far away as Fairview and Pine Grove to fill in response areas that were stripped of their fire equipment by the blaze.
Eventually, enough manpower and equipment arrived on the scene to bring the fire under control. Fire service personnel and equipment were just leaving the home at 10:00 a.m. Prior to that, they had been dealing with hot spots and dousing the last of the fire.
