Cayce, SC (Paul Kirby) – A head-on collision that occurred on Old Dunbar Road near Kinsler Drive has proven fatal for at least one person that was in the car. The collision that occurred just before 9:30 a.m. involved a tractor-trailer truck and a small passenger car. According to witnesses who saw the accident happen, the car crossed the center line and hit the truck. It trapped several in the car.
Firefighters, EMTs, and law enforcement officers from several jurisdictions quickly responded, and the first-responders used extrication equipment to free the trapped victims from the car. The road was blocked from both direction so that the rescuers could work safely while they attended to the people involved. Eventually, an ambulance left the scene rushing someone injured to a local hospital with a firefighter driving. This is done so that both of the medics assigned to the ambulance can attend to the injured.
According to law enforcement officials, at least one has now died as a result of the accident. One more person was in grave condition, but his status hasn’t been confirmed either way. The SCHP was on the scene investigating the cause of the collision and they were assisting in the coroner’s office with their mission as well. The name of any decedents will not be released until the family has been notified.
