New Lexington County Auxiliary Administration Building holds Ribbon Cutting Ceremony

Lexington, SC (Angelica Iglesias) - The new Lexington County Auxiliary Administration Building located at 605 West Main Street in the heart of Lexington held its Ribbon Cutting Ceremony Friday, March 16. The building is now made up of the Registration and Elections Department and the Veterans Affairs Office.

Joe Mergo, Lexington County Administrator, led the ceremony. He first introduced Chairman of County Council Debbie Summers. Senior Pastor of Saxe Gotha Presbyterian Church Jim Glatz gave the blessing where he read a prayer by Franklin D. Roosevelt on D-Day. Constance Flemming of the Registration Election Commission sang the National Anthem beautifully. The Pledge of Allegiance was then led by a group of veterans attending the event.

South Carolina House of Representative and Chairman of the Lexington County Legislative Delegation Kit Spires gave the first initial special remarks. Next, Director of the Registration and Elections Department Dean Crepes spoke on behalf of the new building. Lastly, Ed Lundeen, Lexington County Veterans Affairs Director, got emotional while talking about the time and efforts spent on this project.

Two ribbon cuttings for both the Registration and Elections Department and the Veterans Affairs office were held.
