County of Lexington 911 Communications and Dispatch Center Receives National CALEA Accreditation

The County of Lexington 911 Communications and Dispatch Center recently received its fourth consecutive Commission on Accreditation for Law Enforcement Agencies (CALEA) accreditation.

However, this accomplishment is unlike others that have been awarded to the County’s 911 Center in the past, as this is the first accreditation that comes with zero file maintenance and non-compliant findings.

“The accomplishment of this accreditation is a result of the commitment to excellence by County Council, administration and staff,” Council Chairman Debbie Summers said. “The 911 team puts an emphasis on providing the highest-quality of service to their community through constant process improvement and teamwork.”

The CALEA Board of Commissioners voted to award the accreditation to representatives of the County’s 911 and Public Safety team in Frisco, TX on March 24, 2018, continuing to acknowledge that the County’s dispatch and call center is one of five CALEA accredited 911 centers in the state of South Carolina.

The accreditation is a testament to the hard work and dedication of the 911 employees, who maintain and adhere to a body of standards which incorporates professionalism, timeliness and consistent response for the residents and visitors of the County.

County of Lexington Council acknowledged the 911 team’s efforts at a County Council meeting held Tuesday, April 10, which coincided with the recognition of National Telecommunicators Week, celebrated April 8 to April 14.

The County of Lexington encourages all residents and visitors to thank a dispatcher as we recognize their hard work and dedication to their craft and community.
