Batesburg-Leesville, SC (Paul Kirby) Investigators with the Batesburg-Leesville Police Department are on the scene of a drive-by shooting that occurred overnight on West Church Street. According to a spokesman for the town, the incident happened near Batesburg First Baptist Church in the 400 block.
Police say that someone drove by and shot up a vehicle. No one was injured in the incident and it appears as if only the car was damaged. The town’s spokesman says that officers believe that this was a target act and not random. They are currently following leads, but no arrest has been made.
The spokesman for the police said that they do not believe there is any further danger to the public as a result of this event. Because they do believe that this vehicle and perhaps its owner were whom the shooter intended to harm, the rest of the citizens of the area are safe and shouldn’t be worried. We will update this story as we receive more information.
