Lexington County deputy uninjured in cruiser crash during pursuit

Lexington, SC (Paul Kirby) A Lexington County Sheriff’s Department deputy is uninjured after a crash involving his cruiser during a pursuit last night. Details are extremely limited at this time; however, we do know that the accident happened close to Old Orangeburg Road and Pleasant View Drive, just south of central Lexington County, sometime before midnight last night.

According to our sources, a suspect had initiated a pursuit and a number of cruisers were assisting in efforts to try and get that vehicle stopped. At some point, one of the deputies’ cruisers went off into a wooded area and overturned. The deputy was not trapped and was able to get out of the overturned unit quickly. He was checked out but had no injuries.

At this point, we have asked the sheriff’s staff for more information regarding what the suspect did that first caused the deputies to try to stop that individual. We also have asked if that suspect or suspects were taken into custody and on what charges. We are waiting for their reply.
