Lexington, SC (Paul Kirby) Lexington pediatrician Doctor Kyle Guyton has announced he is running for the open seat on Lexington School District One’s Board of Trustees. Guyton and his wife have three children who currently attend schools in the district and that experience, plus his knowledge as a doctor who works with children, is what Guyton says makes him the very best candidate for the position.
In his statement sent to The Lexington Ledger, Doctor Guyton said, “After having grown up and graduated through the Lexington One School District One, I have a strong understanding of the pride and history of our wonderful school district. This foundation more than prepared me for the upcoming years of education eventually leading to my MD and opening of our practices within the Lexington community. In essence, I have a unique knowledge of where we have been as a school district."
Guyton said that over the years he and his wife Sara have had the most incredible experiences with their children’s teachers and administrators. He said, “We have been continually impressed by the laser focus on education and enrichment that has been given to each of our children at different stages of their education.” He continued by saying that the family also feels the same anxiousness and uncertainty at every new stage of their children’s education, but they are confident their children are in the best educational place possible. “In essence, I have a shared knowledge of where we are as a school district,” Guyton said
Guyton continued by saying that as a local pediatrician he is keenly aware of, and has particular insight into, the overlap that exists between his office as a medical doctor and the classroom. He says that he knows all too well the struggles that some students face on a daily basis and he sees the bewildered parent or grandparent trying to figure out what to do next. “The school is doing all they can, the caretaker is doing all they can, yet the struggle continues,” Guyton said. “Furthermore, as a local business owner, I am uniquely positioned to see the growth that surrounds us. We have the benefit that the pain we feel as a community is a growing pain and not a shrinking pain. However, much planning and decision-making is needed, and I have been a part of that process for ten years as we have grown our businesses.” Guyton says that he has a clear, “knowledge of where we are going as a school district.”
Guyton says that he and his wife are asking for your prayers, they are asking for your consideration while voting, and he is asking how he can best serve you and/or your child as a member of the Lexington One School Board.
