Gaston, SC (Connor Radtke) – A white male led Gaston PD on a car chase through the town and into Pine Ridge. According to Major Stephen Watkins, spokesman for the Gaston Police, he came up behind the vehicle and ran the tags. The tags came back stolen. When Watkins turned his lights on, the male sped away trying to escape from being pulled over. He eventually turned down a dead-end road where he then jumped out of the car while it was still in drive. The car rolled through some bushes and eventually came to a stop while Watkins pursued the suspect on foot. Major Watkins was able to catch the male and bring him into custody. The stolen vehicle was a Toyota Tundra, and the owner of the vehicle was able to reclaim his truck with little to no damage done.
The man is being booked into the Lexington County Detention Center on charges of failing to stop for blue lights, possession of a stolen vehicle, and other charges.
