Driver in Nazareth Church Road fatality charged with felony DUI, driving under suspension

Red Bank, SC (Paul Kirby) - The SCHP has arrested the driver of a pickup truck that crossed the center of Nazareth Church Road last Friday hitting another vehicle and killing its driver. According to Lance Corporal David Jones of the patrol, Lauran Dangerfield, the driver of the 2008 Dodge pickup, has been charged with felony DUI involving death, possession of a controlled substance, and driving with a suspended license. She has been booked into the Lexington County Detention Center. The SCHP arrested Dangerfield some days after the accident because she had been admitted to the hospital after the accident.

The collision, which happened during last Friday morning’s commute, killed Brian Patrick Orazen, 45, of Lexington. He was pronounced dead at the scene due to multiple traumatic injuries. Orazen was trapped in his JEEP and firefighters had to use extrication equipment to remove him from his vehicle.

Dangerfield will have the opportunity to face a judge during a bond hearing soon.
