Pelion man charged with breaking into church

LEXINGTON, S.C. – A Pelion man is charged with breaking into a church after deputies say he forced his way inside to steal an instrument Aug. 18.

Christopher Lee Williams, 33, is charged with second-degree burglary, according to arrest warrants.

“Surveillance video captured Williams using a tool to pry the back door of the Dolorosa Worship Center open. Once inside, he took a bass guitar,” Lexington County Sheriff Jay Koon said. “Williams confessed to committing the crime and identified himself as the person on the security footage.”

Williams is being held in the Lexington County Detention Center.
