Old practice bomb causes LCSD Bomb Unit to respond to Edmund Hwy.

Edmund, SC (Paul Kirby) – Over the weekend, an individual who was looking through some brush located something rather out-of-place in the woods of our fair community. It wasn’t a snake, some blackberries, an adolescent’s cache of girlie mags, or someone’s stash of weed. The bomb squad believes that it was an MK-76 practice bomb that is often used by the US Air Force. This isn’t something you normally find lying in the bushes of Lexington County every day!

According to the Sheriff’s Department, their bomb squad safely removed it from the area; now their unit’s team says that it’s no longer a potential threat. Just another day at the office for our sheriff’s special teams. How the misplaced military hardware got there is anyone’s guess. Bombs away!
