Swansea Police Department releases photos of suspected vehicle thief

Swansea, SC (Paul Kirby) – Chief Cliff Hayes of the Swansea Police Department released still photos of a suspect who is believed to have stolen a truck from the Citgo on South Church Street in Swansea Friday night. The photos were taken from the video system of the business. Chief Hayes did so over the department’s social media page Saturday. His post has already been shared over 400 times.

The photo appears to be of a young white male dressed in shorts with a distinctive light blue stripe down each sides. It also looks as if he’s wearing dark basketball or sport shoes, a dark t-shirt, and a lightweight, dark-colored jacket with either a light-colored lining or a light-colored dress style shirt underneath that was unbuttoned. It would not have been unusual for him to have layers of clothing on because Friday night was very cool. The man also appears to have very closely cropped hair that's receding on both sides in the front, and a thin build and average height. It appears as if he might also have a mole, blemish, or dark spot on his left temple above his eyebrow. Please keep in mind that if he learns his description has been released, he may take steps to change his appearance.

Chief Hayes and his department said in their post, “We are hoping someone can identify this suspect. If you recognize him, please contact the Swansea Police Department at 568-3366 or Lexington County Dispatch at 785-2521.”
