Batesburg Leesville Middle School hosts mock interviews for students

Batesburg-Leesville, SC - On Wednesday, December 5th, for the second year in a row, students at B-L Middle School had the opportunity to participate in mock interviews that were conducted by Lexington Three administrators and business representatives from Batesburg-Leesville and some surrounding communities. Around 75 students from the school participated in the event, which was mandatory for AVID (Advancement Via Individual Determination) students in the 7th and 8th grades, but was also open to any other students who wanted to participate.

As part of this semester’s curriculum, students at B-L Middle School have been studying and working on the “Life and Career Characteristics” that are part of the Profile of the South Carolina Graduate. These traits include: integrity, self-direction, global perspective, perseverance, work ethic and interpersonal skills. The mock interviews allowed students to put these skills into action and demonstrated to them that they can be applied now and later in life.

Each interview lasted for approximately ten minutes. Students were asked to prepare for the interview as if they were applying for a position to be a liaison between B-L Middle School and the B-L community. After each interview was completed, the students were rated by the interviewers using an evaluation form. Students will receive their scores at a later date so that they can use the feedback to determine which areas they are strong in and which areas need to see some growth.

Lexington Three would like to thank everyone who took time out of their busy schedules to help prepare our students for the future … now!
