Lexington, SC - For the sixth straight year, Mayor Steve MacDougall has been named one of the 50 Most Influential People by Columbia Business Monthly Magazine.
The publication recognizes those who have made the most impact on the State of South Carolina and Midlands Region throughout the business, government, education and non-profit sectors.
Mayor Steve MacDougall was elected to Town Council in 2011 and became Mayor in 2013 and won reelection in 2018. He was raised in Lexington and has a background in hospitality, business management and public safety. During his tenure as Councilman, Steve served as the liaison for the Accommodations Tax Advisory Committee and Advisory Committee, whom was instrumental in the implementation of Lexington Paw Park. He is currently the Vice Chairman of the Central Midlands Council of Governments and serves on the Executive Committee, Planning and Development Advisory Committee and the Transportation Subcommittee. Mayor MacDougall also serves on the board of directors for the Municipal Association of SC and is the Immediate Past President of its affiliate organization, the SC Association of Mayors. He is also Chair of the Lexington County Joint Municipal Water and Sewer Commission and is President of the Saxe Gotha-Lexington Public Facilities Corporation. Additionally, he has been named annually to Columbia Business Monthly 50 Most Influential since 2014. He is a graduate of Lexington High School and USC and is a dedicated husband, father and grandfather.
