Lexington police chief and police department receive awards for supporting Special Olympics athletes

Lexington, SC (Paul Kirby) – Lexington Police Chief Terrence Green and the Lexington Police Department received several awards during the South Carolina Law Enforcement Torch Run for Special Olympics awards luncheon. The Lexington PD has always worked tirelessly to support these special athletes and other community projects including the US Marine Corps Toys-For-Tots Christmas program.

Chief Terrence Green received the "Richard LaMunyon Leadership Award" for his support of Special Olympics South Carolina. He was given the award for his exceptional work in leading the Lexington Police Department and its efforts. The Lexington Police Department was also recognized as being one of nine law enforcement agencies in South Carolina who raised over $25,000 for Special Olympics athletes in 2018. The total donation made last year was $33,500 which will benefit the nearly 29,000 Special Olympic athletes in South Carolina.
