Springdale police chief says no charges will be filed in Sunday night shooting

Springdale, SC (Paul Kirby) – Springdale Police Chief Kevin Cornett said Wednesday that after a thorough investigation of a shooting that occurred in Springdale earlier this week, his department has determined that no charges will be filed in the incident. Cornett said that his department led the investigation into the incident with the assistance of evidence technicians from SLED.

Cornett said that their investigation revealed that a verbal disagreement on Sightler Drive Sunday night began between three individuals. It eventually turned physical. At some point, one of the parties involved produced a firearm, and discharged it striking the others. Chief Cornett said that his department determined that the person who discharged the firearm did so in self-defense. All the injured parties have since been discharged from the hospital.
