Swansea, SC (Paul Kirby) – Earlier this month, Officer Contreras of the Swansea Police Department stopped a dark red Chevy Malibu for a headlight violation on North Church St. This happened about 1:20 a.m. After smelling an odor of marijuana in the vehicle, Officer Contreras had the suspect step out of the car and did a search of the vehicle. Inside, he located 150 grams of marijuana and pills that were packaged for sale. There also was a handgun in the vehicle.
Kempest Bell was driving the vehicle. He had a valid Concealed Weapons Permit, however Bell was placed under arrest and charged with Possession with Intent to Distribute Marijuana and other controlled substances. He was booked into the Lexington County Detention Center on those charges.
