Home near Trinity Baptist Church in Cayce damaged by fire Wednesday

Cayce, SC (Paul Kirby) – A single-family home was damaged by fire in the Fairlawn subdivision Wednesday afternoon. This is in the 1800 block of Charleston Highway near Trinity Baptist Church.

According to Sgt. Evan Antley, spokesman for the Cayce Department of Public Safety, the fire damaged the home to the point that it displaced the family who lived there. Antley said that the Cayce Department of Public Safety responded with their pumper and rescue truck. They also received assistance from the City of West Columbia Fire Department who sent a truck and personnel. Between the two departments, there were 18 first responders on the scene fighting the fire at one point.

Sgt. Antley said the cause of the fire has not yet been determined.
