South Congaree, SC (Paul Kirby) - Longtime SC House of Representatives member Mac Toole of House District 88 is in the hospital. Sources say his condition is serious and he is in intensive care. He was admitted about a week ago.
Toole has been married to his wife Linda, a former school teacher, for 50 years. They have two grown children, Karlayne and Christopher.
Toole was first elected to serve the people of House District 88 in 2003. This is a district that covers South Congaree, Pine Ridge, some areas north of Gaston, parts of Red Bank, and up to Augusta Road and I-20. Prior to becoming a house member,Toole served on the Lexington County Council for several terms and was on several Lexington County School District’s Board of Trustees. He is a deacon at Trinity Baptist Church in Cayce and serves on multiple boards and committees.
Rep. Toole is extremely well respected in the community and known for his ability to broker deals and keep a level head. He supports sensible government and has said he doesn’t like to see government regulations hamstring small businesses or hurt citizens through its actions.
The family has asked that they be afforded some privacy as Toole recovers. Instead of visiting, the community has been asked to pray for his return to good health.
