Lexington, S.C. — On Thursday, August 15, at 4 p.m., Lexington County School District One dedicates Beechwood Middle School, located at 1340 Highway #378 in Lexington.
The 196,000 square foot middle school is an International Baccalaureate (IB) Middle Years Programme (MYP) candidate school with a focus on computer science essentials in partnership with Code To The Future. The rigorous courses taught here will prepare students for any of Lexington District One’s multiple college- and career readiness pathways.
The school opens to begin classes on Aug. 20, 2019. It will houses more than 900 students in grades 6–8. There will be ninety-seven employees in positions ranging from administrative to the custodial staff.
The employees at BMS believes that relationships are at the core of student success. Students will be provided with a teacher advocate to support them on their learning path. They will also design units of study that develop perseverance, critical thinking and the ability to communicate and collaborate toward a common goal.
