Lexington, SC (Paul Kirby) - Tammy Fulwood of the SC Department of Social Services was recently chosen as one of the agency’s Employees of the Month. Tammy is a domestic violence program coordinator with Adult Advocacy Division.
Tammy’s daily work includes facilitating training throughout the state with partners, contract management with providers, and interpreting, implementing and monitoring state and federal rules and guidelines associated with the Family Violence Prevention and Services Act grant and the Domestic Violence Fund. According to her co-workers, Tammy goes above and beyond in her professionalism.
“Her passion for her work is evident in all that she does,” the letter nominating her for the honor said. “Her friendly and caring attitude makes her invaluable to not only her team and division, but also to external partners. Tammy is a team player and is always willing to go the extra mile to ensure that the Domestic Violence Program and Adult Advocacy is represented well,” it concluded.
After the recipients were announced, Tammy said of the award, “I felt excited, humbled and most of all grateful. I’ve been with SCDSS over 15 years, and the most rewarding part is to be able to provide families with services.”
The South Carolina Department of Social Services’ Employee of the Month Program recognizes staff whose work exemplifies the department’s core principles of competence, courage, and compassion. Staff selected as part of the Employee of the Month Program are rewarded by being invited to eat with the state director at a luncheon for all the winners. They also receive a dedicated parking space, a photo and write-up displayed at state office and a write-up sent to their community newspaper.
