Lexington District One closes schools Thursday

Lexington, SC (Paul Kirby) - Lexington School District One has cancelled all school for Thursday. In a release e-mailed to the media and parents, Mary Beth Hill, the district’s chief communications officer said, “In an abundance of caution, Lexington County School District One is canceling school tomorrow, Thursday, September 5, 2019. Hill continued by saying that expected wind gusts of over 30 miles per hour throughout the afternoon Thursday could create conditions that would be unsafe for school buses, student drivers, parents and staff.

These closings apply to all schools, students and staff in all Lexington District One attendance areas. The district also cancels all daytime and evening meetings and events scheduled to take place at any Lexington District One school, performing arts center, field or facility. This includes all district programs, athletic practices or events, adult education classes, school or district-related meetings, events, or extra-curricular activities scheduled for tomorrow.

District officials will send parents, staff and students more information as we get it through the district’s telephone calling system.
