West Columbia, SC (Paul Kirby) – The Skyline Club, often referred to as just The Skyline, is reopening Friday after being closed for some time. This was a Midlands’ favorite nightspot for over 40 years. The original building burned in the 1970s but was rebuilt and operated again for many years even after the times and entertainment changed dramatically.
The Skyline has featured country music as its entertainment of choice for most of its existence. During its heyday, many on the way up, or on the way down acts that have made it big in country music and other genres have performed concerts there. Occasionally, the hottest headliners would play The Skyline, packing the venue with people from all walks of life.
The Skyline’s management has always bragged that it has had the largest dance floor in the Midlands. That’s still there. Now, the new proprietor has installed a state-of-the-art sound and lighting system. They promise it will be “booming” Friday night for the grand reopening.
Outshyne is booked as the feature act Friday. According to their management, the band is comprised of five guys with half a million road miles and almost ten years together. They have had a #1 on Sirius/XM channel the Highway with "Moonlight Crush.”They have also played some of the best venues and biggest festivals in the U.S. These shows include a "Taste of Country" in New York and CMAfest in Nashville just to name a few. They have shared the stage with Jake Owen, Keith Urban, Darius Rucker, Neal McCoy, Colt Ford, Corey Smith and Gary Allan, and more.
The Skyline Club is located at 100 Lee Street, West Columbia. This is in an industrial area near the Columbia Airport. They have a full kitchen and a well-stocked bar.
