Lexington School District Two says high school consolidation rumors are untrue

West Columbia, SC (Paul Kirby) – According to a spokesperson for Lexington School District Two, a recent video that surfaced and was passed around regarding its two high schools consolidating is untrue. In a statement sent to all student’s parents, the spokesperson said there has been no consideration of consolidating Airport and Brookland-Cayce High Schools into one.

In the letter released by the district’s Public Information Officer Dawn Kujawa, she detailed some of the reasons this was not under considering. In referring to the schools she said, “Both have rich and storied histories stretching back decades in this community. Both high schools have received significant upgrades and additions, thanks to voter approval in 2014 of a $225 million construction plan for district schools. The Lexington Two Board of Trustees continues to support Airport and Brookland-Cayce as independent high schools, today and in the future.”

No one has publicly said where the video in question came from.
