Red Bank, SC (Paul Kirby) – Lexington County firefighters were battling a second alarm fire Monday morning in the 1600 block of Two Notch Road near South Lake Drive. Two Notch Road was closed around 5:50 a.m. due to a large supply hose stretched across the road from a fire hydrant. The call was dispatched shortly after 5:30 a.m. and the second alarm was transmitted at 5:47 a.m.
When the first battalion chief arrived, he reported that heavy flames were coming out the roof of the building. A forklift was involved as well as other material inside the structure. There were fears that there were a number of different chemicals stored inside that could be hazardous to our firefighters.
Fire and EMS units wre travelling to the fire from across Lexington County. This is near Litton Drive and Two Notch Road. Motorists were asked to avoid the area at all cost. They were also told they should be prepare to yield to emergency traffic.
