Lexington, SC - Antonio Martinez Woodbury, 46, was sentenced Wednesday in Lexington County General Sessions Court to 8 years in the South Carolina Department of Corrections after pleading guilty to Shoplifting for the eighth time. The sentence was handed down by Judge William P. Keesley.
This case was handled by 11th Circuit Assistant Solicitor Jordan Cox and investigated by Sgt. Ronnie Sturges of the Lexington Police Department.
On March 26, 2019, Woodbury stole approximately $500 worth of electronic merchandise from the Targe on Sunset Boulevard in Lexington. Woodbury used a boxcutter to remove security devices from the merchandise and concealed the items under his shirt and pants. The loss prevention officer recognized him by sight from previous encounters and Woodbury was quickly apprehended by Lexington Police Department officers after exiting the store.
Woodbury's prior record includes seven shoplifting convictions from 2009 through 2018, as well as numerous other property crimes. Woodbury is being transported to the Department of Corrections to begin immediate service of his sentence.
