Lexington, SC 03/05/2025 - Lexington County deputies arrested three convicted felons after a community tip led them to seize an assortment of firearms on February 21, 2025.
Joshua Nelson, 38, is charged with two counts of possession of a firearm by a person convicted of certain crimes, according to arrest warrants.
Michael Lankford, 67, is charged with seven counts of possession of a firearm by a person convicted of certain crimes, according to arrest warrants.
Larry Grubbs, 66, is charged with two counts of possession of a firearm by a person convicted of certain crimes and operating a chop shop, according to arrest warrants.
“Deputies received a community tip about Nelson possibly storing firearms at the 4000 block of Fish Hatchery Rd. in Gaston,” Lexington County Sheriff Jay Koon said. “After obtaining a search warrant, deputies found four firearms and four dirt bikes. Three of the dirt bikes were confirmed stolen.”
Information from Nelson led agents to contact Calhoun County Sheriff’s Department in executing a search warrant for his mother’s home at the 1000 block of Valley Ridge Rd. in Calhoun County. While executing the separate search warrant, deputies found an additional 15 firearms, according to Koon.
“Lankford led agents to another home in the 200 block of Sandspur Rd. in Pelion where an additional 16 firearms were found,” Koon said. “The next day deputies followed up at the 200 block of Betty Blvd. and recovered a stolen camper out of Kershaw County.”
Grubbs is being held in the Lexington County Detention Center.
Nelson and Lankford were released after meeting conditions of their bond.
