Batesburg-Leesville, SC 05/14/2024 (Paul Kirby) – Police officers from the Batesburg-Leesville Police Department are searching for a suspect they say committed the crime of Assault and Battery of a High and Aggravated Nature. Now, they are turning to the public in the hope that someone may know the suspect and where he can be located.
According to the police, on Friday, May 10, 2024, officers responded to the Exxon station on South Pine Street after someone called them and reported that a shooting had taken place. When the responding officers arrived, they located an adult male in an adjacent parking lot that had a gunshot wound. The man was first treated at the scene and then transported to Lexington Medical Center were his medical team reported that he had a non-life-threatening injury.
Investigators interviewed witnesses and collected evidence at the scene regarding this crime. Using that information, they believe that 18-year-old Da Jae’ Wigfall was the person who committed this crime. Arrest warrants have now been issued for Wigfall on the charges of Assault and Battery of a High and Aggravated Nature and Possession of a Weapon During the Commission of a Violent Crime. Police say that Wigfall should be considered armed and dangerous and anyone that knows where he is or crosses paths with him should not try to apprehend him.
Police say that if anyone does know where Wigfall is currently hiding, they should call the Batesburg-Leesville Police Department 24 hours a day at 803 532-4408.
