Lake Murray, SC 02/06/2025 - The Capital City/Lake Murray Country Regional Tourism Board (CCLMC) held its Board of Directors meeting on January 29, 2025, at the Lake Murray Country Visitors Center. During the meeting, two esteemed state Senators were honored for their dedication and contributions to regional tourism and economic development.
Senator Nikki Setzler was recognized for his exceptional leadership and unwavering commitment to the citizens of Lexington County during his 48 years of service, making him the longest-serving state Senator in South Carolina’s history. Over the years, his support of CCLMC has been instrumental in fostering progress and economic growth in the region. Through his leadership and guidance, the organization has strengthened its impact. As a long-standing member of the Senate Finance Committee, Senator Setzler’s advocacy has elevated the recognition of CCLMC’s regional tourism program among state leaders, ensuring continued growth and success. His legacy of positive change will be felt for generations to come.
Senator Katrina Shealy was also honored for her visionary guidance and steadfast dedication to serving the citizens of Lexington County over the past 12 years. Time and again, CCLMC has turned to Senator Shealy for support and recognition of its efforts, and she has consistently championed the organization’s initiatives. Her tireless efforts and unwavering commitment to promoting tourism and economic growth have contributed significantly to the success of CCLMC’s numerous events and marketing campaigns.
Each Senator received a painting from the artist, Kelly Pelfrey titled, “Purple Martin Majesty” from the Capital City/Lake Murray Country Board of Directors to remind them of their phenomenal contribution. The board went on to express their deep gratitude for the Senators’ leadership, advocacy, and dedication to tourism in the region.
