Cayce Police Department books suspect on multiple criminal charges after pursuit

Cayce, SC 10/28/2024 (Paul Kirby) – On Thursday night, officers with the Cayce Police Department attempted to conduct a traffic stop on a vehicle after they noted the driver was speeding and driving erratically. The officers were suspicious and thought that the operator of the vehicle might be driving under the influence (DUI) of some intoxicant. When the officers activated their lights and sirens, the vehicle’s driver disregarded them and initiated a pursuit.

The police gave chase following the City Police Department’s pursuit policy. This policy is in place to ensure that when they do have a driver that refuses to stop and the police give chase, it’s done as safely as possible for the public, the officers, and the suspect. Eventually, they did get the fleeing vehicle to stop.

Officers arrested the driver and charged him with Failure to Stop for Blue Lights, Trafficking Cocaine, Distribution of Crack Cocaine, and weapons charges. That suspect was booked into the Lexington County Detention Center where he was held while awaiting a bond hearing.
