Cayce Police Department introduces K-9 Nero to the community at Steel Hands

Cayce, SC 02/22/2024 - The Cayce Police Department introduced their newest member of the Cayce Police Department’s K9 team this week at Steel Hands Brewing. K9 Nero and Corporal Hartley, Nero’s handler, just completed training and during the introduction, they demonstrated their skills that will be utilized to continue to make Cayce the best place to live, work and play.

K9 Nero was funded with the proceeds from the 2023 Steel Paws event. Other agencies like the Lexington County Sherriff’s Department and Richland County Sherriff’s Department have received K9’s funded through Steel Paws events. The Steel Paws initiative is a partnership between Steel Hands Brewing, the City of Cayce Public Safety Foundation, Jim Hudson Automotive Group, the Richland County Sheriff’s Department, and the Lexington County Sheriff’s Department. Funding raised is used for equipment and training for the K9 programs in the City of Cayce, Lexington County and Richland County.
