Commercial structure gutted by fire on Knox Abbott Drive Sunday

Cayce, SC 12/23/2024 (Paul Kirby) – A small business on Knox Abbott Drive was gutted by fire Sunday morning. The fire, reported around 8:00 a.m., was burning in a business named Mrs. Goodfoot near the intersection of 9th and Knox Abbott. Firefighters from the City of Cayce, the West Columbia Fire Department, and the Lexington County Fire Service responded.

When firefighters arrived, they encountered heavy smoke pushing out of the building. They immediately forced entry and began an aggressive interior attack. Smoke conditions were so thick that another crew laddered the roof and cut a hole in it to ventilate the building. Working together, the fire crews were able to extinguish the blaze quickly.

According to Google, Mrs. Goodfoot is a nail salon specializing in foot care for diabetics and other health conditions, including ingrown toenails.
