Lexington, SC 06/18/2024 (Paul Kirby) - Lexington County Coroner Margaret Fisher has now identified the victim who was recovered from the waters of Lake Murray at approximately 6:34 p.m. on June 15, 2024. This happened near the 500 block of Windmere Drive, in the Lexington area of Lake Murray
According to Coroner Fisher, Cody Michael Miterko, 27, of Columbia was enjoying the lake with friends when he went under the water and did not resurface. His body was recovered from 10 to 15 feet of water after a search. An autopsy was performed on June 17, 2024. The results confirmed the death was due to drowning.
The Lexington County Coroner’s Office and the Lexington County Sheriff’s Department continue to investigate.
